Fire crews swarm street after solar panel battery starts smoking

Fire crews swarmed a street in Denton after a solar panel battery started smoking. Haughton Green Road was closed off for numerous hours on Thursday afternoon (January 19) after the concerning report.

Smoke had reportedly been seen escaping from the ground floor of a terraced house. When fire crews arrived at the scene, it was established it had been coming from a battery linked to solar panels at the property.

Numerous fire engines were pictured at the scene, with crews tackling the smoke for around three hours. It is understood the homeowner had to evacuate the property before the battery was later removed.
