Crews called to flat fire above Harvey Nichols in Bristol city centre

Multiple fire engines were spotted outside a department store in Bristol city centre last night (April 17). It has been confirmed this morning that crews were responding to a fire in a flat above Harvey Nichols, on Broad Weir, at around 9pm.

As well as the fire engines, pictures from the scene show a cordon in place outside the store, which is part of Cabot Circus. Several crews from Avon Fire and Rescue Service can be spotted near the downstairs doorway with overalls and helmets on.

People walking past the scene notified BristolLive about the fire engines and cordon on the road. One eyewitness said: "There are lots of fire engines around flats above Harvey Nichols."

Avon Fire and Rescue Service said in a statement: "We were called at 8.49pm to reports of a fire in a flat on Broad Weir, City Centre.

"Crews from Temple and Bedminster attended the scene and found there had been a small fire that was out on their arrival. Firefighters inspected the property, to ensure it was safe, and gave advice to local residents."
