Fire crews are battling a blaze at a Scots tower block this evening.
Emergency services scrambled to the flats on Lomond Road in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, after the alarm was raised at around 5.15pm on Tuesday. A picture taken from the scene showed smoke billowing out of a window near the top floor.
Another image showed fire engines at the scene as fighters battled the blaze. The building above the affected property appeared to be blackened by the smoke and flames.
The extent of the damage is so far unclear as fire crews remain at the scene. There are no reported injuries at this stage.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson told the Record: "We were called to reports of a fire at the flats on Lomond Road in Coatbridge. The call came in at 5.15pm on Tuesday, May 2.
"We sent six appliances to the scene and we currently remain in attendance. There are no reports of any injuries at this time."
