Fire crews battle blaze at former Scots nightclub

Firefighters are currently battling a fire at a Scots nightclub.

Crews were called to the blaze at Kitty's on Hunter Street in Kirkcaldy, Fife at 6.20am today. Seven fire engines and a specialist height appliance remain at the scene as emergency service workers continue to tackle the flames.

There are no reported injuries at present. Images from the incident show firefighters scrambling to the incident as thick pockets of smoke billow from the building's roof.

The Record understands the nightclub permanently closed in August 2019 and that the building has been vacant ever since. Officers from Police Scotland confirmed they are also in attendance and that Hunter Street and Wemyssfield remains closed.

A spokesperson from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews were made aware of a building fire on Hunter Street in Kirkcaldy at 6.20am today. Seven appliances and a height vehicle remain in attendance.

"There are no injuries reported at present."
