A fire broke out at a former pub in Rusholme last night - the second blaze there in three years.
Firefighters and police officers were called to the landmark Hardy's Well pub on the corner of Wilmslow Road and Dickenson Road at around 11.45pm last night (Wednesday). At the height of the response, four fire engines were on the scene, as a ladder and drone was also used to extinguish the blaze.
A stretch of the road was cordoned off as emergency crews responded. This morning, crews are working to make the scene safe at the derelict pub.

This was the second blaze firefighters have tackled at the building in the past three years, with crews called in May 2020. The fire then broke out in the ground floor of the pub.
The building has been boarded up since the pub closed in August 2016. In April 2019, plans to extend the landmark building, which features Lemn Sissay's famous poetry mural, into 35 flats and eight shops were submitted for approval.
Despite concerns about congestion, the plans were later approved in July. No work has been made on the development since.
In a statement, a Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "At 11.45pm on Wednesday 24 May 2023, firefighters were called out to a fire in a derelict pub on Dickenson Road, Manchester.
"At the height of the response, four fire engines were in attendance from Moss Side, Withington and Gorton, plus a turntable ladder from Manchester Central and a drone.
"Crews used six breathing apparatus, three hose reels and a covering jet to extinguish the fire and remain at the scene currently as they help to ensure the site is safe."
