The former home of disgraced Television presenter Jimmy Savile has been engulfed in flames.

Emergency services were called to the paedophile’s former home in Glencoe, Scotland, at around 5.30pm on Saturday.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called at 17:36 and have three pumps in attendance.”

Meanwhile, Police Scotland confirmed the area had been closed.

A spokesman for the force said: “The A82 is closed in both directions between Tyndrum and Ballachulish Bridge following a report of a fire at a property around 5.40pm on Saturday, 8 February, 2025. Emergency services are in attendance and drivers are asked to avoid the area.”

Following the revelations of Savile's decades-long history of sexual abuse, the Glencoe property became part of the broader investigation into his life and crimes.

The estate was discovered to contain many items that reflected Savile's strange and self-indulgent lifestyle.

After Savile’s death in 2011, much of his estate, including his properties, was left to various charities.

But the Glencoe estate, like other aspects of his life, was overshadowed by his horrific crimes and has been vandalised repeatedly ever since.

Savile saw the property for the first time during a cycling trip in 1944 and lived there from 1998 until he died.

In 1999, he hosted then-Prince Charles, now King Charles, for dinner at the house. The property also appeared in the 2000 Louis Theroux documentary When Louis Met Jimmy.

The home’s new owner has been granted planning permission to demolish the existing single-storey house and replace it with a new four-bedroom, one-and-a-half storey house.
