Fire at Holiday Inn near Bristol Airport sees guests evacuated and person rescued

Firefighters rescued a guest from inside a Holiday Inn near Bristol Airport after a blaze broke out in the early hours of this morning (May 11).

Avon Fire and Rescue service sent crews from three stations to deal with the fire at 2.31am as the building in North Somerset was evacuated, and police were also in attendance. Firefighters rushed into the building and found a room with smoke coming from it, and extinguished "smouldering clothing".

They rescued a guest who was outside the room, and made their way inside to tackle the fire. In a post on Twitter, the official account for Blagdon Fire Station uploaded a picture which shows at least two fire engines at the scene.
