Fire at a block of flats in Scottish city 'wilful' as police launch investigation

POLICE are treating a fire in Aberdeen which led to a block of flats being evacuated as wilful as they launch an investigation.

Emergency services attended after the alarm was raised about the fire in Richmond Street at about 5.40pm on Saturday.

Police Scotland said one woman was treated at the scene by paramedics.

Detective Constable Abbie Harris said: “The fire is being treated as wilful and a joint investigation with the fire service is being carried out.

“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and anyone who saw anything suspicious is asked to get in touch.

“We are also asking the public to check private CCTV and dash-cam if they were driving in the area, and make contact if there is anything that could assist with our investigation.”
