The fire service has released a statement after a suspected blaze in Bristol city centre turned out to be a false alarm. Emergency services rushed to the scene in the early hours of Sunday morning (February 12) after reports of smoke near The Florist bar on Park Street.
Fire crews from both Temple and Bedminster were deployed after smoke was spotted at 2.44am near the popular restaurant bar, which also has sites in Liverpool and Watford. Firefighters discovered upon arrival that smoke has made its way into the building from a smoke machine at another property nearby.
A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue said: "Crews from Temple and Bedminster were called at 02:44 on Sunday, February 12 to reports of smoke issuing from a bar/restaurant on Park Street, Bristol.

"On arrival, firefighters investigated the scene and found that smoke had entered the building from a smoke machine at a neighbouring property. Crews used a gas monitor and a thermal imaging camera to ensure the scene was left safe."
Elsewhere in Bristol over the weekend, a fire that broke out in the Eastville area on Sunday morning is believed to have been started deliberately. Pictures show thick black smoke billowing into the air from a distance after a mound of rubbish was set alight on Fishponds Road.
