Fiorentina chief breaks silence on Sofyan Amrabat to Manchester United transfer rumours

Fiorentina chief executive Giuseppe Barone has said that no bid or proposal has been received for midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, amid reports linking him with a move to Manchester United.

Speculation in Italy suggested United had agreed personal terms with the Morocco international over a switch to Old Trafford this summer. Erik ten Hag is keen to add to his squad this summer after a successful first campaign with the Reds.

United secured a return to the Champions League with a third-placed finish in the Premier League and won silverware in the form of the Carabao Cup, the club's first trophy since 2017. Ten Hag is aiming to build on that success this summer.

United have almost completed their first signing of the summer with the addition of Chelsea's Mason Mount. United have paid £55m initally for the England international, who has on Monday had his medical at the Old Trafford club's Carrington training ground.

But more signings are being sought and Italian outlet RAI [via Sportskeeda] reports that United have 'agreed personal terms' with Amrabat. The 26-year-old player has already spoken in the past of the appeal of playing in the Premier League.

However, according to Fiorentina chief executive Barone, those earlier reports appear to be wide of the mark. The Italian has confirmed no approach has been received for the Morocco international from United or any other club, but should an offer be made, then it will be considered.

He said: “We have not received any bid or proposal for him at all. He’s Fiorentina player now. If an offer comes, we will consider it.”
