Find out how to toast Lionesses' victory with free beer at Tesco

Supermarket giant Tesco is offering all over-18s the chance to raise a glass to the Lionesses' victory for free all this week.

Shoppers can pick up a free bottle of beer from now until August 7 - but there are only 150,000 up for grabs and they will be going fast.

The offer comes as England made a landmark win against Germany during the Euros Final on Sunday night and took part in a packed victory parade in London on Monday. On the victory bus was Northumberland-born Lucy Bronze, who had a big hand in the team reaching the Euros final, after scoring the second goal in a superb 4-0 over Sweden to take them to the final.

To toast Lucy and the whole team's success, Tesco is inviting customers to bag a free bottle of Budweiser at the checkout by filling in this coupon. The app will ask for a phone number and your age before your free coupon gets sent over text. You’ll need to be over 18.

A bottle of Bud is normally £1.69 at Tesco, and you can only claim one coupon per person and you’ll need to head in store in order to use it, as the offer is not available online. Tesco has joined Greene King in the celebrations, with the 700-strong pub chain giving a free drink to all customers watching England vs Germany at one of their pubs.

Tesco's offer comes as the Government confirmed there were "no plans" to have a new bank holiday following the Lionesses' victory in the 2022 Women's Euro. The Prime Minister's official spokesman said: "Obviously we all want to celebrate the Lionesses' win, but there are no plans to change the current pattern of public bank holidays."

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer was among the people backing a "day of celebration" if the Lionesses claimed victory. Before the final, he told the Mirror: "The whole country will be roaring on the Lionesses in the final on Sunday. They have already done us proud, but if they win it will be a truly historic achievement - one that should be marked with a proper day of celebration, where clubs can open and promote access for women and girls."

However a Government spokesperson said the current pattern of bank holidays was well established and while another day off may benefit some communities and sectors, the "cost to the economy of an additional bank holiday is considerable".

The Lionesses become the history makers!
