The Financial Times already has one of the smallest online audiences of any British news publication, ranking 39th in the UK behind Bristol Live, LADbible and Hello! Magazine, according to Press Gazette. To add to this embarrassment, it now looks poised to fall behind its much younger rival City AM in print circulation.
City AM is currently London’s smallest paper by circulation, but Spy hears on the grapevine the paper is set to use its new THG cash to ramp up its print run, meaning it could overtake the FT as soon as this year.
Good on them, says Spy. The freesheets have life in them yet.
