'Finally!' — Manchester United fans rejoice after Frenkie de Jong and Tyrell Malacia news

Manchester United are closing in on their first two signings of the summer transfer window after agreeing deals to bring both Tyrell Malacia and Frenkie de Jong to Old Trafford.

The Manchester Evening News understands that United have agreed fees with both Feyenoord and Barcelona, respectively, to bring the duo to Old Trafford. They hope to have both deals wrapped up in time for both players to feature in the club's pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia.

United — who will fly out to Thailand on July 8 — have been tracking De Jong for around seven weeks and talks have been ongoing with Barcelona for most of that period. They have struggled to agree on a transfer fee for the Netherlands international, but it is understood that they have finally reached a settlement over a €65million (£56.14m) price tag, plus add-ons.

Malacia, meanwhile, is poised to join United for a much lesser fee of €15million (£12.9m). The left-back was poised to join French club Lyon but Erik ten Hag made a last-gasp move to hijack the deal on Tuesday and United look to have got their man.

Both players, who are still away on holiday, will join United subject to passing their respective medicals. Should all go to plan, they will become the club's first new additions since Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford almost a year ago.

Unsurprisingly, the news of United being on the verge of landing their first signings of the summer has sparked a wild reaction on social media. Below, MEN Sport has taken a close look at what some of the supporters have had to say.

As you can see from the messages displayed in the tweets from the fans above, the news of the club reaching agreements to add two players to Ten Hag's squad has gone down a storm. They have waited patiently for good news on the transfer front and they will now be hoping that Malacia's and De Jong's impending arrivals at Old Trafford will spark a domino effect in terms of new additions.
