Final score: Chiefs temper Steelers, secure 29-10 win to clinch AFC’s No. 1 seed

The road to Super Bowl LIX will officially run through Western Missouri after the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 29-10 in Week 17 on Christmas Day.

With their win over Pittsburgh, Kansas City clinched the AFC’s No. 1 playoff seed, securing a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the postseason.

Though the Chiefs still haven’t managed to score 30 or more points in a single game during their 2024 campaign, the defending Super Bowl champions’ offensive output in Week 17 was more than enough to pull away from the Steelers on the scoreboard.

Patrick Mahomes completed 29 of his 38 passing attempts for 310 yards and threw three touchdown passes that kept Kansas City on top.

Defensively, the Chiefs’ pass rush dominated Pittsburgh’s front five, tallying five sacks in the game. Kansas City’s secondary held Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson to 205 passing yards, and veteran safety Justin Reid came away with the Chiefs’ only interception in the game.
