The Kansas City Chiefs kept their perfect season alive in Week 5 after defeating the New Orleans Saints 26-13 on “Monday Night Football.”
Though the two-score victory was a success for the defending Super Bowl champions heading into their bye week, quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ imperfect performance is sure to be a storyline this week.
Mahomes completed 28 of his 39 passes for 331 yards, but threw an interception and failed to score a touchdown against New Orleans.
Instead of relying on Mahomes to score points, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid gave the ball to rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy and veteran running back Kareem Hunt in the red zone to lift Kansas City to victory.

On defense, the Chiefs were led by third-year safety Bryan Cook and linebacker Nick Bolton in the win. Cook intercepted Saints quarterback Derek Carr on New Orleans’ first possession, and Bolton recorded 11 combined tackles.
Fans in Kansas City will have to wait until October 20 to see the Chiefs back in action, when the defending champions face the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium in Week 7.
