If there’s one way to get a Final Fantasy 14 fan’s full attention, it’s by uttering the name ‘Emet-Selch’ aloud. Go ahead, try it for yourself — nobody can oversell how magnificent this character is. Square Enix wouldn’t be stuffing him into another collaboration otherwise.
As Fanbyte reports, the Final Fantasy 14 collaboration with NieR Reincarnation begins May 10, 2022. What’s particularly interesting is that this crossover is Shadowbringers-themed. Appropriate, given it’s objectively the best Final Fantasy 14 expansion. I’m only teasing, of course. Endwalker is brilliant too.
Several Final Fantasy 14 jobs, including the dragoon, white mage, and dark knight, will be playable in NieR Reincarnation soon. There’s also Amaurot, the climatic dungeon that comes near Shadowbringer‘s finale. Best of all, the living legend that is Natsuko Ishikawa is on writing duty here, and she’s incorporating Emet-Selch into the story. Check out the trailer below to see what all the fuss is.

That’s Emet-Selch right at the end, back turned towards the camera like a boss. Seriously, real ones understand why.
This crossover isn’t as grandiose as the YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse raid Final Fantasy 14 had a while back, but more NieR collaborations are always welcome.
