Specialist ammunition experts have secured an object and taken it for "further forensic examinations" after part of south Belfast was cordoned off. Families were evacuated from their homes after a "suspicious" object was found earlier today (March 29).
Police said they were called to Finaghy train station, Finaghy Road North, at around 11.40am. A number of families were told to leave their homes while the ammunition technical officers (ATO) were on the scene.
But officers have this evening confirmed the security alert is now over. Finaghy Road North has now reopened.
