Filming has commenced on the highly anticipated Australian spin-off series, 'Return to Paradise,' a part of the popular murder mystery franchise 'Death in Paradise.' The six-part whodunit is being produced by BBC Studios Productions Australia in collaboration with Red Planet Pictures for the ABC, with filming locations spanning across Sydney and the Illawarra coastal region. The series will be broadcast on BBC One and iPlayer in the U.K., and distributed globally by BBC Studios.
'Return to Paradise' centers around detective inspector Mackenzie Clarke, portrayed by Anna Samson, who returns to her hometown in Australia after leaving her fiancé in the U.K. When a challenging case lands on her desk, her determination and resilience drive her to solve the mystery and bring the perpetrator to justice. This marks the first time a female lead detective takes the helm in the franchise.
The ensemble cast includes Lloyd Griffith, Tai Hara, Catherine McClements, Celia Ireland, Andrea Demetriades, and Aaron McGrath, who will unravel the murder mysteries alongside Clarke. The original British-French series, created by Robert Thorogood, is currently in its 13th season, captivating audiences worldwide.
