From Star Wars to Silence of the Lambs, here are some infamous movie quotes you misremember due to the Mandela Effect.
Although many movies stay with us forever due to their genre-defining characters or mind-blowing plots, some have us hooked with their amazing one-liners. Sadly, some might be quite different from how we remember them.
The Mandela Effect is a situation where a large group of people unanimously remember something that did not happen or may not be true. In this case, many film fans often remember iconic lines or quotes as something else entirely.

Even cinema's highest grossing movies have been victims of the Mandela Effect, warping some of the most quotable lines we still say decades after their release. The most notable examples include Star Wars' notorious Darth Vader father line along with Snow White's magic mirror rhyme.
Here are some examples to show you the full effect of the phenomena:
Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back
Even the biggest of Vader fans get tripped up with the series-defining line. After a long-winded battle with Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader utters a revelation that went down in cinematic history - "Luke, I am your father."
In reality, Darth Vader never said this. Despite the quote being uttered countless times over the past few decades, it appears fans misheard the Sith Lord. What he actually says is: "No, I am your father.” The line is more than likely misremembered due to the spoiler nature as the Mandela version has more of a hook.
Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs
"Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?" The famous Disney line is said by countless people as they check themselves out in the mirror but all is not as it seems. In fact, the evil queen isn't even a fan of repetition.
The actual quote is "Magic mirror on the wall...", which begs the question as to why audiences ever thought she repeated herself in the first place. It appears almost everybody has been getting it wrong for over 80 years.
Silence of the Lambs
Psychological thrillers also feel the heavy hand of the Mandela Effect. When Hannibal first meets Clarice in Silence of the Lambs, he utters the phrase: "Hello, Clarice." Even though it sent a tingle down audiences' spines for generations to come, we can't blame the mask for mishearing him.
In fact, what Hannibal's Anthony Hopkins actually said was "Good morning". Probably the biggest shock on this list, he never actually says "Hello, Clarice" in the entire movie. The first instance of the line being used is in the sequel Hannibal.
The Wizard Of Oz
Family favourite The Wizard of Oz may be one of the most quotable movies Hollywood has produced. From the Wicked Witch's "I'm melting", to "lions, and tigers and bears! Oh my!", the film has a basket full of one-liners to pull from. Dorothy's reaction to landing in Oz may be one of the most popular, but it may not be remembered the way you think.
Whilst most of us know "I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore", what she actually said was "Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore." The audience's exclusion of the loveable cairn terrier should be criminal but with such a wealth of quotes throughout the film, it's no surprise there's been a mix-up.
