Head coach Steve Cooper says he is continuing to get to know new Nottingham Forest sporting director Filippo Giraldi.
The club brought in the Italian earlier this month with a view to evaluating the existing infrastructures at the City Ground as the Reds look to adapt to life in the Premier League. He has been visible at recent games, while Cooper is trying to spend time with him when the pair’s commitments allow.
It has been a tough start on the pitch for Forest, back in the top-flight for the first time in more than two decades. And with trying to establish themselves at this level the goal, the manager believes having Giraldi as part of a collaborative approach can only help.

Asked how the relationship is progressing, Cooper said: “The role of a sporting director is, I think, a good thing for the club. It’s the modern approach and the modern way, so we should be looking to do things like that. You have to have an open mind to all these things.
“Both of us are working really hard to spend as much time together as we can and get a good feeling for each other and what we believe in. The more together all areas of the club can be, and the more of a collective we can be, the better that will stand us in good stead.”
Quizzed on whether that joined-up way of thinking is important when it comes to planning for the January transfer window, the Welshman added: “And long-term planning - mid, short and long-term planning. If you have a look at any successful, achieving organisation there is a real alignment from top to bottom.
“There are some really good examples of that in clubs in the Premier League that have maybe had a similar journey to us, of coming from the Championship and looking to build. There are some really good examples out there. It would be great for us to be another one.
“But we have got a lot of work to do. We are finding that on a daily basis in the Premier League. Strategic planning is always a good thing.”
