
A star-studded lineup of figure skaters is set to grace a benefit event in Washington, D.C., this weekend to pay tribute to the victims of the tragic midair collision and crash near Ronald Reagan International Airport. The event, titled 'Legacy on Ice,' will feature a mix of past champions, current stars, and aspiring Olympians coming together to support the cause.
Among the notable names scheduled to participate are Nathan Chen, Nancy Kerrigan, Peggy Fleming, Isabeau Levito, Madison Chock, and Evan Bates. The event, organized by Monumental Sports & Entertainment, U.S. Figure Skating, DC Fire & EMS Foundation, and the Greater Washington Community Foundation, aims to raise funds for families affected by the recent tragedy.
The figure skating community, known for its tight-knit nature, has rallied together to make the event a success. Brian Boitano, the 1988 Olympic champion who will serve as the emcee, expressed his admiration for the outpouring of support from the skating world.
With 28 members of the figure skating community among the 67 individuals who lost their lives in the crash, the event holds special significance for the sport. The lineup also includes two-time U.S. champion Amber Glenn, 2024 world champion Ilia Malinin, and iconic figures like Johnny Weir, Kristi Yamaguchi, and Scott Hamilton.








The event, which will be broadcast live on the Peacock streaming service and locally in the Washington area, is expected to be a moving tribute to those who perished in the tragedy. U.S. Figure Skating interim CEO Sam Auxier praised the unity and dedication of the skating community in coming together for the cause.
