Fight outside McDonald's in Cardiff after group ejected from nightclub

Police were called to a fight outside a McDonald's restaurant in Cardiff city centre. They found white powder on one man and ordered him to do a drugs education course.

A South Wales Police spokeswoman said officers were called at around 11.15pm last Friday following reports of a disturbance involving "multiple people" close to McDonald's in St Mary Street. She added: "An altercation had taken place between a group of people, who had been ejected from a nearby nightclub, and door staff."

Police arrested a 20-year-old man from the West Midlands. "While at Cardiff Bay Police Station, having been arrested for being drunk and disorderly, he admitted to having white powder concealed in his wallet and was subsequently arrested for possession of Class A drugs," the force spokeswoman added. "He was dealt with by way of a community resolution and will be required to attend a drugs education course."

Often used to deal with low-level offending, community resolutions can involve restorative justice techniques such as the offender apologising to the victim, paying compensation, or repairing damage caused. They do not result in a criminal record or require the offender to attend court. You can read more crime news here.
