A fifth juvenile has been arrested by gardai following the ramming of a garda car in Cherry Orchard, Co Dublin last month.

Gardaí investigating the endangerment of gardai and related incidents in the area on September 19, arrested a male juvenile on Tuesday.

They were detained at Clondalkin Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 and have since been charged.

The juvenile is set to appear before Dublin Children's Court, Court number 55, this morning, Wednesday.

Four other male juveniles were arrested in relation to the incident on Monday.

Gardai from Ballyfermot, Clondalkin and Rathcoole Garda stations carried out the operation.

All four were detained at a number of Garda stations under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The news comes after gardai searched several residences and seized items in the Cherry Orchard area last month as the probe into the incident continued.

A video of the incident caused outrage online after it went viral on social media.

The footage showed a Garda car rammed after responding to reports of dangerous driving in the area at around 7.30pm.

The video also saw spectators cheering as one of the vehicles involved in the incident drove back and forth along the road conducting hand brake turns.

Onlookers could be heard alerting drivers to a Garda car approaching, with some encouraging the drivers to "ram them".

As the Garda car arrived at the scene, a driver could be seen lining themselves up to ram the patrol car twice before driving off.

The offending vehicles involved were later burned out on a green area beside a creche.

Two female officers were reportedly left very distressed after the incident and were forced to take time off for medical advice following the scenes.
