Fifth Georgia DB enters transfer portal

The Georgia Bulldogs’ secondary has been a major talking point heading into the 2025 college football season. Georgia has already lost a lot of cornerbacks and safeties in the NCAA transfer portal and another one just announced his intentions to transfer.

Freshman Collin Gill announced he will enter the transfer portal, according to 247Sports.

Gill, a three-star recruit, originally enrolled with the Oregon Ducks in 2022, but he was redshirted and later he entered the transfer portal in April 2024. He signed with Temple on May 16 before flipping to Georgia on June 6.

The redshirt freshman only played in the UMass game and was considered a developmental project for Georgia. UGA won’t get to see Gill reach his potential with him entering the transfer portal.

The Bulldogs have to replace a lot in their secondary next year. Malaki Starks has already declared for the draft and Dan Jackson is out of eligibility. Georgia also lost Julian Humphrey to Texas A&M, Justyn Rhett to Nebraska, and Daniel David-Sisavanh.

However, Georgia has been active on the transfer portal. Miami’s Jaden Harris and USC’s Zion Branch have already announced Georgia as destination. Georgia may do more to address the secondary.
