A Fife-based business has launched in the United States, realising its founder's dream.
Pinpoint, the family-owned firm established in 1992 by John Waring, manufactures and installs security systems to protect employees at risk of violence in the workplace - including hospitals, mental health and correctional facilities.
Increasing attacks on healthcare workers in recent years has increased demand for Pinpoint’s systems and it has secured around 80% market share in the UK and Ireland.
Despite setbacks caused by the pandemic, Pinpoint has installed staff alarm systems in more than 30 healthcare settings in the US, from its recently-established New York headquarters.
The company has carried out more than 3,000 installations in high-risk settings and has ambitions to double that by the end of the year.
In June, Pinpoint will launch its latest staff alarm system, P2, which has been designed in-house and manufactured in the UK.
Daniel Waring, chief executive at Pinpoint, said: “As we celebrate 30 years in business this year, It’s incredibly gratifying to see our hard work coming to fruition in the US.
“My late father, John, tried for years to get Pinpoint in America, and I am delighted to have achieved this, despite a global pandemic.
“Coming from a small town in Scotland, we have certainly come a long way and that’s as a result of a well-designed product, highly skilled technicians and a dedicated workforce who share in our mission to keep everyone safe at work.”
