Fife-based convenience store chain Greens Retail is set to expand across Scotland after securing a £1.3 million funding package.
The backing from HSBC UK should let the family-owned business carry out an acquisition strategy, while also opening nine new stores this year.
Ssites in Aberdeenshire and Dundee are set to open later this year, following recent launches in Inverurie, Peterhead, Kinross, Kirriemuir, Shettleston and Fraserburgh.
The acquired stores will operate under the Greens brand and are projected to create 160 new jobs across all new stores.
Greens Retail currently owns nine stores in Scotland and the recent acquisitions have taken the total to 13.
Harris Aslam, director at Greens Retail, said: “We’ve been working to evolve the convenience sector since our arrival in 2014 by concentrating on partnering with local suppliers to provide our stores with fresh produce.
”Thanks to HSBC UK, we can continue to do this and reduce food miles, while introducing customers to interesting and exciting suppliers on their doorstep.”
The retailer works with many other concessions across Scotland, including Fisher & Donaldson bakery, Costa Express and Skwishee.
Formerly known as Eros Retail, Greens completed a rebrand last month and is now aiming to double its turnover in the next year.
