Guess who's up next...
By Dean Bilton
It's the lads. The fellas. The blokes. The bloody Socceroos, playing for a spot in the last 16 of a World Cup for the second time in our history.
A point against Denmark should do it, unless Tunisia somehow conspire to beat France. It all goes down at 2:00am AEDT, and I will be back here on the blog for all of it.
Until then, keep an eye on the ABC Sport homepage for all the wash up from this morning's game and all the build up to tonight's. It's a big day for Australian football, so enjoy it. See you bright and early.
Danny Ward's night

There's no saving that one...
But there probably should be saving that one...
Will Christian Pulisic play against the Netherlands?
By Dean Bilton
The American superstar scored the goal which sent his team to the last 16, but will he be fit to join them? He got absolutely cleaned up in the act of scoring that goal, and though he played out the rest of the first half he was substituted at the break.
That'll be the big talking point in the US camp ahead of the big game against the Dutch.
Game over for Wales and Iran

They join Qatar and Ecuador in heading for the 2022 World Cup exit door.
The first round of 16 fixtures have been confirmed

England will play Senegal in the second round, while the USA will play the Netherlands.
Just quietly, both pretty intriguing. There are clear favourites in each game but you most certainly can't count out the underdogs. We're reaching the business end now, people.
FT: USA win! They are into the last 16, Iran are out
By Dean Bilton
Heartbreak for one of the stories of the tournament, but a result that the US have certainly deserved. They have impressed through their last two games and held their nerve to ride Christian Pulisic's goal all the way to the round of 16.
The Iranian players are shattered, but their World Cup journey has ened. For the US, it's just getting started.
So close! And more Iranian appeals!

99': Wales 0-3 England -- Iran 0-1 USA
Iran are certain they should have had a penalty, for what I am not sure. Their appeals were so aggressive they stopped playing for a moment even while a cross was about to come in.
They are claiming Taremi was pulled down as he approached the ball, but he most certainly was not. And there was an offside in the build up anyway. It's almost over for Iran.
The USA are two minutes away...

97': Wales 0-3 England -- Iran 0-1 USA
They are managing this game expertly right now and are on the cusp of a slice of history. Now or never for Iran.
So close for Iran!
By Dean Bilton
93': Wales 0-3 England -- Iran 0-1 USA
That was so very nearly the goal they needed! Morteza Pouraliganji dived in at the near post from the free kick, but his header just barely skipped past the upright.
Still more than five minutes to play, Iran throwing everything at the US now.
FT: England run away with 3-0 win over Wales
By Dean Bilton
Comfy in the end for England, who came to life after Marcus Rashford's brilliant free kick goal. After that they strolled to the victory against a Wales team that failed to land a punch all night.
Still room for improvement, but bigger fish to fry ahead for Southgate's men.
But who will join them in the last 16?
Long way to go for the USA yet...
By Dean Bilton
90': Wales 0-3 England -- Iran 0-1 USA
NINE minutes of stoppage time to be added on. Iran aren't done with yet.
Iran dumping the crosses in

88': Wales 0-3 England -- Iran 0-1 USA
Their first spell of sustained pressure of the game is coming in the final moments, but the US defence is digging in and refusing to budge. The Americans are a few minutes away from the round of 16.
Meanwhile there will be four added minutes in the Wales-England match, which is meandering to a close now - but not before John Stones conspires to miss the target from six yards out. It remains 3-0.
Iran screaming for a penalty
By Dean Bilton
83': Wales 0-3 England -- Iran 0-1 USA
Was there a US handball in among the six-yard-box chaos? I don't think so, but the appeals are ongoing and vociferous. So much so that one of the substitutes just received a yellow card.
No handball, no pen. Iran have to find another way.
Iran running out of time
By Dean Bilton
75': Wales 0-3 England -- Iran 0-1 USA
As it stands, Iran are 15 minutes from going home. At 1-0 down, they need to find an equaliser to nudge back ahead of the US but in truth look more interested in kicking lumps out of their opponents than finding a goal.
They left it late against Wales last time out, could some more heroics be in order?
Marcus Rashford, take a bow
By Dean Bilton
75': Wales 0-3 England -- Iran 0-1 USA
He is substituted to a standing ovation after being by far the best player on the pitch. His two goals just rewards for a fine performance, one that should make him a fixture in Gareth Southgate's starting XI for the games to come.
Jack Grealish comes on to replace him.
Goal England! Rashford again!
By Dean Bilton
68': Wales 0-3 England -- Iran 0-1 USA
Magnificent footwork from Marcus Rashford to create the chance, but it's an absolute howler from Welsh keeper Danny Ward. England might have identified him as a bit of a weak link, and so it proved there - that one was hit right at him but pinged off his legs into the back of the net.
Still, Rashford had to do the hard work to make the chance and deserves another for his fine game.
Glorious chance spurned for Iran
By Dean Bilton
65': Wales 0-2 England -- Iran 0-1 USA
How did that miss? Saman Ghodos let fly on his right boot, and for all money that looked to be curling into the top corner. But the net stayed unrippled, and Iran stay a goal behind.
England triple change
By Dean Bilton
57': Wales 0-2 England -- Iran 0-1 USA
With progression secured, Gareth Southgate is shuffling the pack and resting some key players.
Off go Harry Kane, Kyle Walker and Declan Rice to be replaced by Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kalvin Phillips and Callum Wilson.
Over in the other game, the US remain on the front foot albeit slightly sloppy in the final third. Their crucial 1-0 lead remains.
