FIFA in World Cup 'extra seats' claim as curious capacity figures leave fans puzzled

FIFA have been scorned by fans across the world for appearing to forge figures on World Cup attendances across all of the tournament games so far.

Already being deemed as a controversial World Cup due to issues surrounding the welfare of migrant workers, corruption and more, fans have flocked to Qatar to see their nation in action on the global stage in a bid to bring home the famous trophy. Yet viewers around the world were shocked to see empty seats in the opener between the hosts and Ecuador, with many lambasting the integrity and genuine nature of the competition.

Despite this, stadiums have since appeared to have been relatively packed for the following ties which have included England's 6-2 win over Iran and Saudi Arabia's shock 2-1 win over tournament favourites Argentina. However, a noticeable trend has perplexed many - with stadium attendance announcements stating that there have been more people than the official capacity in all of the games available.

This started out in the opener, where a figure of 68,895 was confirmed by FIFA to be the official attendance at the Al Bayt Stadium. However, with the stadium only boasting a capacity of 60,000 and there being an evident lack of fans in the ground, fans were alerted to the discrepancy at the first hurdle.

This trend has since followed; England's win over Iran saw 45,334 fans announced at the Khalifa International Stadium, despite the stadium only holding a maximum of 40,000 people. The capacity was swiftly updated to 45,857; leading to questions as to why there were only 523 empty seats announced when, in reality, there were many more.

Wales' draw with USA and Holland's win over Senegal were also of similar figures - 3,138 and 1,721 more fans were at each game than the maximum capacity allowed respectively, before the latter saw the capacity change yet again.

And to put the icing on the cherry of the cake, Argentina's alleged 88,000 attendance for their shock loss to Saudi Arabia was heavily scrutinised at the Lusail Stadium - though the venue only holds 80,000 fans.

FIFA are understood to have claimed attendances were WRONG, with updates claiming that extra seats were made available.
