Chemistry is set for a major overhaul in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team according to various leaks and rumours on social media.
The popular Ultimate Team game mode, which is expected to feature in FIFA 23, allows FIFA players to build their very own custom team, with footballers from across the world able to be assembled into an XI. But often players are restricted by the number of coins they have, which can be used to purchase players on the in-game transfer market. The other major restriction is chemistry, which can impact the ability of the team should certain conditions not be met.

To build chemistry in Ultimate Team, FIFA fans currently need to play their selected players in their correct positions, whilst also having links to other players in the other positions. These links could be that the players play in the same domestic league, for the same domestic club or represent the same nation, with chemistry also getting a boost depending on the manager's nationality and manager league. Chemistry is rated out of 100 on Ultimate Team and should the team's overall chemistry be below 100, it can negatively impact all of the players on the team, reducing their attributes.
Similarly, players with red links will also be negatively impacted, with individual players also given a rating out of 10 for chemistry. Should a player's individual chemistry be below 10, their stats begin to be impacted negatively. For example, playing Luka Modric in midfield next to Kevin De Bruyne would impact both players negatively. However, FUT Icon's are an outlier in that they can be played alongside any player and have a green link.
However, recent leaks on social media suggest that chemistry could be getting a major overhaul for FIFA 23. FIFA Ultimate Team trader @WeaverImBMW4er claims that 'Chemistry' will be replaced by 'Stars' in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, with teams able to get up to three 'Stars'.
This suggests that EA Sports may be reducing the restrictions that are in place with the current chemistry system, allowing players to be more creative with their team and for more extreme XI's, that won't be as negatively impacted as they are in the current chemistry system.
