EA Sports has announced the first FUT 23 Ones to Watch player as Manchester City's Erling Haaland. ahead of FIFA 23's official release.
Haaland made the move to Man City from Borussia Dortmund at the start of the summer. The OTW promo is the first promo released into Ultimate Team each year, with the summer's biggest transfers given special player items that can upgrade throughout the FUT 23 calendar.
Based on the player's real-world performances, OTW player items will receive boosts every time that player is included in a FIFA 23 Team of the Week (TOTW) squad or receives a MOTM player item. In FIFA 22, OTW items also received a one-time, +1 boost if their team won five out of their next 10 domestic league game, starting from a specific date.
FIFA 23 will receive a worldwide release on Friday, September 30, 2022, meaning we could see the FUT 23 Ones to Watch promo start on the same date. Since the introduction of Ones to Watch in FIFA 17, each promo has been released on the first Friday following the release.
And, with the FIFA 23 worldwide release falling on a Friday, it looks likely to be available in FUT from the same date. In FIFA 22, the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos and Jadon Sancho featured in the OTW promo.
And, based on the transfers made this summer already, FUT 23 could see the likes of Sadio Mane, Robert Lewandowski, Raheem Sterling and Paul Pogba join Haaland in the squad. There were 35 OTW players released in FIFA 22, with some players released through Squad Building Challenges and Objectives.
If you pre-order the FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition by September 29, 2022, you receive an untradable Ones to Watch player.
FIFA 23 is developed by EA Vancouver and EA Romania and will be available worldwide on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Stadia, PS4, and Xbox One on September 30. Early access for FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition begins on September 27, 2022.
