FIFA 23 'leak' sees Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo rating drop to 12-year low

Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo has seen the biggest downgrade to his FIFA rating in the last 12 years ahead of the game's release this September, according to a leak.

FIFA 23 is set for release on September 27 where fans will get the chance to play as their favourite clubs and players in Electronic Arts' last instalment of the franchise. The ratings of particular players are always subject to fierce debate among fans as they argue which footballers are over or underrated.

Ronaldo is widely regarded as one of the best (if not the best) to have ever played the game, and therefore the United forward has consistently been one of the highest rated players in the FIFA video games. However, the latest release in this series has caused quite a stir, after the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's stats appear to have been severely reduced.

In a bizarre turn of events, the game seemingly leaked online nearly an entire month early, as some players claimed they managed to 'pre-load' the game that was sent to those who pre-ordered the latest version. They say that the game was accidentally made live, allowing 'Ultimate Edition' players to launch and play the upcoming FIFA 23 game ahead of the September release date.

A number of players were apparently able to load and play the game, with Twitch user mexico07dan1 (via The Sun) streaming FIFA 23 before his account was promptly banned. However, several gameplay clips remain online.

One of the biggest arguments coming from this leak has been surrounding Ronaldo's attributes. The Portuguese international has apparently seen his 'Pace' statistic – commonly acknowledged as one of the most important in the game – downgraded from 87 to 81. Furthermore, his dribbling ability has seemingly suffered a further decline, dropping from 88 to 85 - his lowest ranking since FIFA 11.
