FIFA 23 EA Play early access release date confirmed and trial changes explained

EA Play subscribers will still get early access to FIFA 23 this year, but there are some big changes compared to previous years.

Ahead of the launch of FIFA 23, EA Sports has confirmed that EA Play subscribers will get early access to the full game from Tuesday, September 27, 2022, three days before the game's official release date. This is the same early access window for players who have pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition of FIFA 23. Early access to FIFA 23 will come in the shape of a 10-hour trial period.

In addition to early access, EA Play subscribers also get member-only FIFA 23 rewards including XP Boosts, FUT Packs and a free 10-hour trial of newly-released games. The EA Play subscription service costs £3.99 per month (or £19.99 annually) for Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC.

UPDATE (15:30 BST on Monday, September 26, 2022): The EA Play early access trial appears to have launched earlier than expected on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, with players able to access the 10-hour trial of FIFA 23 through the PlayStation Store.

There's also an EA Play Pro subscription service which costs £14.99 per month, or £89.99 annually, which provides unlimited access to FIFA 23 from September 27, and includes more rewards such as 4800 FIFA points on sign-up and 1600 FIFA Points per month for three months.

Prior to previous EA Sports FIFA game releases, being an EA Play subscriber granted players a free 10-hour trial and early access to the game when the FUT Web App was released, which meant almost 10 days of early access. Prior to the launch of FIFA 22, EA Play subscribers were able to access the game from Wednesday, September 22, 2021, despite the game officially launching on Friday, October 1, 2022.

Players can access FIFA 23 Ultimate Team now, following the release of the FIFA 23 FUT Web App and FIFA 23 FUT Companion App. FIFA 23 will be the final EA Sports FIFA title, signalling the end of a 30-year partnership between EA and FIFA, following the decision of both companies to release their own football simulation games. EA has confirmed that their new game, EA Sports FC, will be released next year.

FIFA 23 is developed by EA Vancouver and EA Romania and will be available worldwide on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Stadia, PS4, and Xbox One on September 30. Early access for FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition begins on September 27, 2022.
