FIFA 22: Liverpool stars get face scans including Curtis Jones and Andy Robertson

It looks like some Liverpool players will be getting brand new face scans in EA's upcoming FIFA 22 title, including Curtis Jones, Andy Robertson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

EA Sports use the latest technology to do full face scans of high-profile players for their FIFA games, to make them look as realistic as possible in-game. These face scans are often done a few months before a new FIFA title is released, but due to the pandemic, EA may have found it difficult to complete the necessary face scans for FIFA 21.

This led to a number of high-profile players not looking particularly realistic in FIFA 21, this included players like Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood and Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones.

As you can see, Jones' appearances isn't particularly realistic in FIFA 21, but that may all be about to change for FIFA 22.

Because, in a video uploaded onto the official Liverpool YouTube channel, it appeared to show a number of Reds players getting brand new face scans, in what was a behind the scenes look at a media day for Liverpool FC.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was the first Liverpool player to be shown getting an updated face scan in the video.

The former Arsenal midfielder is shown as being surrounded by cameras, that were taking pictures of his face from a variety of different angles.

Jones then features in the video at around 8 minutes and 35 seconds, also using the opportunity to send a message to EA about his rating for FIFA 22.

Andy Robertson is the final Liverpool player to feature in the video, who also appears to be getting a new face scan for FIFA 22.

The Reds full-back is told that his character in FIFA has been flagged as needing an update.

This is how Robertson currently looks on FIFA 21, compared to his real-life appearance.

To be fair, EA Sports are probably right to flag his FIFA 21 character as needing an update, because Robertson looks very young in-game compared to his real-life appearance. Sorry Andy!

This suggests that Robertson hasn't had a face scan for a while, hence the need to update it before FIFA 22.

Liverpool are also an official video game partner for EA Sports FIFA, in what as a deal that they signed ahead of the launch of FIFA 20, so it's even more important that the players have accurate face scans ready for the release of FIFA 22.

*FIFA 21 is out now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Additionally, fans who jump into FIFA 21 can also benefit from Dual Entitlement, enabling them to upgrade their copy of the game from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, or Xbox One to Xbox Series X/S at no extra cost.

All progress made or content acquired within FIFA 21 Ultimate Team (including players, items, coins, FIFA Points, match record, and leaderboard placement), as well as all progression in Volta Football will transfer over to PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S.
