If Harry Kane chooses to go against the Football Association's advice he could be booked for wearing a OneLove armband against Iran in England's 2022 World Cup opener in Qatar.
It comes after a statement from the FA said that it advised players "not to attempt to wear the armbands in Fifa World Cup games". FIFA, who had assured the FA of safety for LGBTQ+ supporters, were not willing to back down over the OneLove campaign though.
It has resulted in neither side coming out well, with the FA pulling out of a scheme that was already seen as the bare minimum - though it had been designed for its vagueness so as to not ruffle feathers - and FIFA moving against a campaign aimed at promoting solidarity and inclusiveness.

However, given Kane could feasibly still wear the armband in protest, that would leave him with a booking, and World Cup rules mean that should he repeat the action against USA in the second group game, he would be banned for a match - the last group stage fixture against Wales.
The rules state that any preliminary round yellow cards are wiped, so those with cards from qualification matches have a clean slate- though red card suspensions are carried over - but within the tournament there is no group stage cut off.
After two yellow cards a player will get a one-match suspension regardless of if that happens to be in the final group game and last-16. The only in-tournament wipe comes after the quarter-finals and before the semi-finals. This ensures nobody can miss the final for an accumulation of cards throughout the competition.
So, if Kane was to wear the armband in the first two group games and be punished by the referee, he would miss the final game, in England's case that is against Wales. Likewise, if he was to wear it for the second and third games he could miss the last-16 if England qualify, and if he picks up two between now and the last-16, he would be suspended for the quarter final.
