Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes thinks Barry Ferguson will look to instil more confidence and competitivity in the Rangers ranks.
The club legend was appointed interim head coach on Monday, less than 24 hours after Philippe Clement's dismissal.
A 2-0 home loss to St Mirren on Saturday was the final nail in the coffin for the Belgian, who remained in his post for only 16 months.

Having captained Rangers to several triumphs as a player, Ferguson will be hoping to breed success in his limited spell in the Ibrox hotseat.
He kicks off his tenure away to Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership tomorrow evening.
Speaking ahead of the match, Rugby Park boss McInnes reacted to Ferguson's Rangers return: "He was a hugely talented player," he said.
"He was a fierce competitor, and you need to be fiercely competitive to succeed at Rangers. He's shown that with his talent, how good a player he was.
"I think what he and the lads will try and do is instil a bit of confidence and that competitive nature."
Rangers' last trip to Ayrshire ended in disaster, with Marley Watkins' late strike giving Kilmarnock a memorable 1-0 victory.
Ferguson and Co. can't afford a similar result tomorrow evening as they look to get off to a flying start to life in the dugout.
