Al Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, reported engaging in intense clashes with Israeli forces in the vicinity of the Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City. The group claimed to have targeted Israeli vehicles, resulting in casualties among their ranks.
Hamas alleged that Israel carried out an attack on Al-Shifa Hospital, leading to the assassination of Gaza’s Police Service Commander, Brigadier General Fayek al-Mabhouh. In response, Hamas vowed to continue resisting what they described as the enemy’s malicious intentions.
According to Israel Defense Forces spokesperson Daniel Hagari, the IDF conducted an operation at Al-Shifa Hospital following intelligence indicating the presence of senior Hamas terrorists at the site. The IDF reported that 20 individuals, identified as terrorists, were killed during the operation, including Al-Mabhouh, who was said to hold a key position within Hamas Internal Security.
The Palestinian health ministry confirmed multiple casualties resulting from the clashes in the area surrounding the hospital. Hamas emphasized its commitment to thwarting what they referred to as the enemy’s attempts to sow chaos in the region.
