Fields flooded, rivers raged and small chunks of a mountainside were brought down into the road by water as torrential rain hit Wales . A yellow weather warning was issued by the Met Office for large parts of south Wales overnight between Friday and Saturday. The impact of the rain has been seen throughout the day.
In Cardiff, the Taff was close to bursting its banks with the fast flowing waters lapping at the Taff Trail and crashing over the weir at Blackweir near the city centre as large amounts of water poured from the Valleys through the Welsh capital. Pictures and video from the bridge at Blackweir showed torrents of water creating a thundering noise, as the river also threated to burst its banks. Many trees were already surrounded by water despite normally being some distance above the water line.
Over in Carmarthenshire, flood water turned normally grassy fields where cows graze just outside St Clears off the A477 into something more resembling a lake. Though not unusual in itself as the area floods most years it still created a striking sight with the flood water sitting on land which is normally dry. One person who filmed the scene described it as "crazy, it just looks like a lake".
At the top of the South Wales Valleys, there was a small landslide on the Nantymoel side of the Bwlch with the flood water pushing several rocks into the middle of the road almost.
There isn't likely to be any major let up in the rain for the coming week with Friday the only day where no rain is forecast at present. Unfortunately the heavy rain seems likely to return for the following weekend.
