PHUKET: A field hospital has opened in Kathu district to provide general medical services for outpatients while the Patong hill road is closed for repairs, provincial health chief Kusak Kukiatikul said on Tuesday.
A landslide undermined part of the road up Patong hill during heavy rain last week, making it unsafe.
The road's closure made it difficult for people in Kathu to travel to Patong Hospital for treatment, so the provincial health office decided to open a field hospital for them, Dr Kusak said.
The field hospital was opened on Tuesday and is at The Sports Park @ Kathu.
Dr Kusak said the field hospital will be open from Monday to Friday, between 8.30am and 4.30pm. It can provide general medical services, including vaccinations and pregnancy care. It will remain open until the road repairs are finished.
