Fictional band in hit Amazon Prime show Daisy Jones & the Six could tour in real life

Fictional TV band Daisy Jones & The Six are to hit the road for real on tour.

The just-released Amazon Prime series, based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid, is looking set to be a huge hit.

And hot on the heels of an album by the group, star Riley Keough – whose grandad is Elvis – and her screen bandmates, Sam Claflin and Suki Waterhouse, are being lined up for a series of gigs.

A source tells us: “The show’s had an incredible response – there’s a real buzz around it. Everyone is expecting the series to explode.

“After plans for the Aurora album were put in place, it seemed the natural next step to explore having the cast perform the songs live.

“It’s all been shrouded in mystery up to this point, but there’ll be an exciting announcement very soon.”

Aurora was released this week, with Riley and the rest of the band performing the music themselves.

News of the live shows comes after actor Sam, who plays singer Billy Dunne, was shushed as he was about to “drop a bomb” during an advance screening of the series at the 92NY Center for Culture and Arts in New York.

After the cast answered questions on stage, one member of the audience confided: “Something’s coming that hasn’t been announced yet.

“Sam almost dropped a bomb, but everyone shushed him and said that thing wasn’t public yet.”

Another fan added: “He kind of started saying something, then asked if ‘it’ was getting announced, but then stopped before he said it.”

Inspired by the story of Fleetwood Mac, Daisy Jones & The Six tells of the whirlwind rise to fame of a fictional 1970s rock band and follows the group’s implosion and break-up.

The TV series, which has Reese Witherspoon as executive producer, was released on Friday and captures the hedonistic spirit of the decade.

But it turns out the cast weren’t quite as rock ’n’ roll off camera as they were on, with stars admitting at 92NY that the only shots they did off-screen were of vitamin B12 – from a stash kept in Riley’s trailer.

Thanks, Riley, but ours is a tequila.
