Dutch World Cup legend Wim van Hanegem reckons his old club Feyenoord have made a big mistake in selling Danilo to Rangers.
The Brazilian winger is reportedly on the verge of a £6 million deal with the Ibrox side, although manager Michael Beale has insisted the fee will be lower.
Danilo was an important player with the Rotterdam club at the start of last season and won the Young Player of the Month award in October, although he was used more off the bench as the season progressed and Feyenoord romped to the Eredivisie title.
However, van Hanegem - who won three titles, a European Cup and a UEFA Cup with Feyenoord as a player and one title as manager and was also a World Cup runner-up with the Netherlands - reckons his move will disrupt team morale at his former club.
He said: "Personally, I would not have accepted the offer from Rangers for Danilo.
"It's not because he is a great player, it's because he has such a great relationship with his Brazilian colleague Igor Paixao.
"The bond between the two of them was special. They interact so well.
"I know Paixao is quite upset his mate has decided to leave the club. When one leaves, the other feels terrible.
"Danilo was a good influence and a good second striker at the club. I wouldn't have let him go anywhere."
