Festival jobs in and around Bristol this summer

Festival season is just around the corner and with every great festival attendee (or dozen) comes a hard working member of festival staff.

There are already a number of job adverts for members of various festival teams, offering roles working in the media and communications department, sorting out accommodation or working behind the bar.

Festivals you could be working at include big names from across the country, such as Boomtown, Wilderness, Lost Village. We've compiled a list of the roles on offer - imagine how much festival fun you'll have this summer, all while earning some cash too.

We've compiled a list of some of the jobs on offer right now - you might need to be quick to apply, as the festival season for many starts just weeks away.

Festival and Events Build and Break Crew

Employer: ZooBells

Salary: Starting rate of £9.50 per hour plus holiday pay (£10.65 per hour)

Hours: May vary however they will exceed 40 hours a week and include weekend work

Contract: Full-time, temporary (6 months)

Travel costs: Included (meals/food budget is also provided, as is event access/ticket)

Expected start date: May 16, 2022

ZooBells are looking for Build and Break crew members to help set up and take down glamping accommodation throughout the summer at some of the UK's biggest festivals and events.

Zoo Events Group are on the hunt for practical, forward-thinking individuals to join its exciting events team over the summer, requiring dedicated individuals who enjoy working outdoors, travelling the country and co-operating within small teams. They specialise in the events industry to provide glamping to many prestigious events and festivals including Goodwood, Boomtown, Wilderness and Lost Village, to name but a few.

Summer Yurt and Tent Crew

Employer: Yurtel.co.uk

Salary: £12 - £16 an hour

Contract: Part-time, temporary contract

Expected start date: May 16, 2022

Yurtel are suppliers of event accommodation in the UK and operate at some of the country's best known festivals in addition to supplying accommodation for private and corporate clients.

The build crew are responsible for constructing the Luxury Suites, Yurts and Bell Tents and, as part of the build crew, you will be first in the field in allocated teams to build and then breakdown the camp.

It is a physical outdoor role in all weather so applicants need to be resilient, hardworking and have boundless initiative and enthusiasm. Initial training will be given in all structure types and equipment, with ongoing support and a mandatory training day before the season starts (the season runs between May and September).

Bar Staff - Bristol festival

Employer: Berry Recruitment

Salary: £9.50 - £10 per hour

Hours: 6pm - midnight

Contract/dates: Temporary (June 22 - 27)

A number of professional, enthusiastic, personable and reliable event staff are required to work at a festival in Bristol between June 22 - 27.

Main responsibilities include greeting attendees on arrival, taking orders for drinks if required, serving drinks and ensuring the area is clean and tidy.

Candidate requirements include excellent customer service, an approachable manner and all candidates must be over the age of 18 due to the nature of the work. Previous experience is beneficial.

Bar Staff - NASS/End of the Road Festivals

Employer: hap Solutions Group

Salary: From £11.09 an hour (£9.90ph + £1.19ph holiday pay)

Hours: Various

Contract: Part-time, temporary contract

Paid bar and event staff are required to work at festivals, music venues, concerts and events across the South West and the rest of the UK this summer, with roles including bar staff, bar backs, stock runners, till operators, bar managers, bar supervisors and stock supervisors.

South West festivals in the calendar include Camp Bestival, 1 Big Summer Plymouth, NASS Festival, Boardmasters, End Of The Road and A Perfect Day, to name a few.

You'll be able to choose shifts and assignments that suit you, work with friends or make new ones and you may even get complimentary staff transport to and from major cities for some events.

Digital Communications Manager - Boomtown Fair

Employer: Boomtown Fair

Salary: Dependent upon experience

Hours: 8 hours x 3 days a week (increasing to round the clock across up to three weeks in August)

Contract: Permanent

The job description reads: "The communications team oversees all external and internal messaging from Boomtown, pre, during and post show. They are responsible for how the festival is seen in the wider world, the promotion for ticket sales, as well as reputation management.

"The role requires a passion for live events, festival culture, arts, theatre and music and essentially, an exceptional ability, love and flair for writing across all channels, to varying audiences. The Digital Communications Manager will work alongside the Media and Communications Managers to support the Head of Communications in all duties and work alongside the wider comms and media teams to provide innovative and exciting digital communication strategies and content.

"The Digital Communications Manager's role will be to primarily focus on creating an overarching digital communications strategy and implementing this across all social channels. They will work alongside the in house Graphic Designer and Videographer to create captivating content all year round including while onsite.

"They will also be responsible for managing all digital media within the company's database."

Media Manager - Boomtown Fair

Employer: Boomtown Fair

Salary: Dependent upon experience

Hours: 8 hours x 3/4 days a week (increasing to round the clock across up to three weeks in August)

Contract: Permanent, part-time

The job description for this role reads: "The Media Manager is to work alongside the Digital and Communications Managers to support the Head of Communications in all duties and work alongside the wider comms and media teams to provide solid media relations for Boomtown Fair. The Media Manager's role will be to primarily focus on extending press networks, generate positive PR and assisting in the implementation of print and OOH advertising opportunities, assisting across budget management as well as spotting opportunities to reach beyond Boomtown's existing networks.

"The Media Manager will assist the Head of Communications, to effectively manage all external and internal content and ensure that the Boomtown voice is consistently and efficiently communicated across all channels and networks."

Boomtown Festival 2019 (One Eye In)

Festival Smoothie Bar worker

Employer: Hughes Fresh Fruit T/A Strawberry Fayre

Salary: £10 an hour plus holiday pay

Contract: Full-time, temporary contract, permanent

Expected start date: May 1, 2022

A number of full-time hard working staff are being recruited to manage fruit salad bars, strawberries and cream stalls, juice bars, fruit stalls and smoothie bars at a number of major events in the UK this summer. These include:

Duties will include managing a stall, supervising other team members, serving customers, handling cash and moving stock and equipment, working as part of a team in a fun and fast paced environment.

You will need to be polite, outgoing, friendly, hard working and adaptable as situations do change at very short notice.
