Ferran Soriano explains what Man City must do to achieve Champions League glory

Manchester City chief executive Ferran Soriano has explained how the club can finally get their hands on the Champions League trophy.

City will face Sevilla, Borussia Dortmund and FC Copenhagen in this season's group stage of the competition. The draw will see Erling Haaland face his former side following his move to Manchester from the Bundesliga side this summer.

The Blues came agonisingly close to reaching the Champions League final last season after they were knocked out by eventual winners Real Madrid in the semi-final. Rodrygo struck twice inside injury time to stun City and send the tie into extra time, where a Karim Benzema penalty broke City fans' hearts.

This season, City will attempt once more to lift the trophy that has so far evaded them, and with the added signing of Haaland this summer, there is a renewed belief that it might finally be possible. Soriano has now given his verdict on how the club can go all the way this campaign, as he explained that consistency is the key to success.

He told City's in-house media : “What we did in the last three years is extraordinary. We have won four of the last five Premier Leagues, which means we are very consistent in the way we work and the way we play. By doing that, we also get runs to the final and runs to the semi-final.

“I qualify this as a success no matter what because I know that if we continue to do the same year after year, one day we will get to the final again and one day we will win it. We are not obsessed, but I know it’s going to happen.”
