Ferne McCann addresses 'difficult time' as she breaks down on TV with apology for voice notes

Former Only Way Is Essex star Ferne McCann broke down live on ITV's This Morning on Wednesday, March 15. She issued a grovelling apology for vile voice notes after admitting she was in a bad place when she sent them.

The former TOWIE star was being interview by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield. Discussing the voice notes, Ferne said she could not give her "full truth" for now, however, she did issue an apology.

She said: "It definitely wasn't my finest hour and it definitely was a very difficult time in my life when those voice notes were leaked" She went on: "I need to take this opportunity to publicly apologise again to those affected. Obviously the words that I used were unpleasant and I have reached out privately to those people... it's very difficult because I would love to sit here with you guys and with my followers and share exactly what went on but it is now part of a criminal investigation."

According to reports in the Mirror, during the voice notes, Ferne supposedly made a series of comments about her former best pals Sam and Billie, allegedly calling Sam a "fat c***" saying "Her thighs are so big and I looked really skinny today and... yeah."

In a second voice note, Ferne appeared to call mum-of-three Sam a narcissistic b***h', as is believed to have said: "That's the sort of girl that she is. She's just a narcissistic b***h. She honestly won't care," Ferne can be heard saying. "It's just so sh*t on people that have worked hard to just - because she has a big following. It's just ridiculous. It's out of order."

In another leaked voice note, Ferne was accused of hitting out at Billie for giving her son the same name as her jailed ex Arthur, whilst weeks later the anonymous account claimed Ferne made comments about her ex Arthur's acid attack victim Sophie Hall. Ferne had said that her voice messages were "edited and taken entirely out of context".

Previously, Ferne said of the leaked messages: "The voice messages that are being released are manipulated, edited and taken entirely out of context. Even so, I will have said things that are untrue and I do not believe - but I did so to protect my family and myself from serious harm and in the face of significant threats."

An Essex Police spokesperson told the Mirror at the time that the matter was subject to a police probe. The spokesperson said: "We are investigating a report of malicious communication which was made to us in Brentwood on Thursday 29 September. We have spoken to the victim, a woman aged in her 30s, and our enquiries are ongoing."
