Fern Britton shares update on relationship with Phillip Schofield

Fern Britton has updated fans on her relationship with former ITV presenter, Phillip Schofield. Fern, who used to co-host This Morning before being replaced by Holly Willoughby, shared more details on her relationship with Phillip in a new interview.

She revealed that the pair don't really speak anymore, are "not in touch now." She said: “We were involved in the show and mates at the time, but we don’t really [speak anymore]. We’re not in touch now.”

She added to Good Housekeeping: “My time at This Morning was marvellous and I adored the 10 years I was there," reports Birmingham Live. When Fern was replaced in 2009, Schofe and Holly presented the show alongside one another until earlier this year, when the 61-year-old admitted to an affair with a young male runner and quit.

She added: “I feel you should never look back. I don’t think I’d be able to turn the clock back; it wouldn’t work that way.” In the wake of the Schofield scandal, Fern issued a cryptic message to Eamonn Holmes, who was a vocal critic of the TV star's affair.

“Unexpected calls from old mates are so lovely," she tweeted at the time of the scandal in late May. “Just had the loveliest catch up with @EamonnHolmes. I think we have known each other since the 80’s when we were babies Shooting the breeze."

It came after Eamonn had launched a stinging attack on Schofe, saying: "I think there should have been a special award for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby for best actors. They may or may not be together on the telly today. The public surely will suss that there's no chemistry, that it's a broken fit between the two of them and that This Morning does not depend on who presents it.

"It's an institution, it will carry on no matter who presents it and anyone can check the viewing figures, there's no difference between whether they present it or anyone else."
