Fern Britton's 'loaded tweet' aimed at Phillip Schofield sends fans wild amidst feud rumours

Former This Morning presenter Fern Britton has tweeted about a conversation with Eamonn Holmes, hours after Eamonn discussed the rift between Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

Fern, who presented This Morning with Phillip, said she’d had the “loveliest catch up” with Eamonn, who blasted the current presenters, claiming their friendship and on-screen chemistry is now "an act". Fern looked like she was stirring up more controversy, as she and Eamonn appeared to turn on Phillip amid his reported feud with Holly, reports the Mirror.

Phillip, 61, was back on the sofa today with Holly, 42, after she was reportedly ‘deeply upset’ after Phil released a public statement about their friendship following reports of a rift. ITV bosses were said to be prepared to fire Phil from his role on the shows he and Holly co-present if their "chemistry" had changed.

Fern, 65, said she’d had the “loveliest catch up” with Eamonn, just hours after he launched an attack on Phillip. She tweeted on Monday evening: “Unexpected calls from old mates are so lovely.

“Just had the loveliest catch up with @EamonnHolmes. I think we have known each other since the 80’s when we were babies. Shooting the breeze.”

Fans were quick to respond to the tweet, with one quipping: “Did you have a nice chat? Bet you’re both cackling over Phillip.” “Mmmm wonder what hot topic of conversation you giggled and snorted about,” another speculated.

A third added: “Did you discuss things like Karma and how truth always finds a way out? I love deep and meaningful convos like that!” The post came hours after former ITV star Eamonn discussed the rift between Phillip and Holly on his GB News show.

Ex- This Morning host Eamonn said he reckoned Holly and Phil should have been recognised at Sunday night's BAFTA TV Awards for the 'best actor' award.

He said: "I think there should have been a special award for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby for best actors. "They may or may not be together on the telly today. The public surely will suss that there's no chemistry, that it's a broken fit between the two of them and that This Morning does not depend on who presents it.

"It's an institution, it will carry on no matter who presents it and anyone can check the viewing figures, there's no difference between whether they present it or anyone else."

In a recent statement, Phil said things 'hadn't been easy for him' and called Holly his "rock", claiming: "We're the best of friends - as always, she is an incredible support on screen, behind the scenes and on the phone. Holly has always been there for me, through thick and thin. And I've been there for her."

Holly was said to have fallen out with Phil after her friends claimed she felt "undervalued by ITV " and that she was "living in Phil's shadow".

In his autobiography, Life Is What You Make It, Phil discussed a bust-up with Fern in 2009 over the content of a show – and was "stunned" when she accused him of "meddling".

Then, when Phil and Holly were accused of jumping the queue to see the late Queen lying in state last year, Fern said: "There’s a VIP line?"
