Fermanagh deli shop forced to close due to rising costs

A popular Co Fermanagh deli shop is to close for a month and consider its future due to rising costs.

Between the Bridges, which sold ready-made sandwiches and heat to eat meals, closed its Townhall Street shop last weekend, saying it will be concentrating on providing meals to local shops for the next month.

The business, run by local chefs Declan O’Donoghue and Paul Curry, had opened a new store in Lisnaskea last year which has also since closed.

In a social media post, Between the Bridges said it would close for a month to reassess the situation amid rising costs of electricity, gas and incoming rates increases.

“After much thought and with heavy hearts we have decided to take a short break from the shop at BTB,” the post said.

“Rising costs of gas, electricity, wages, incoming rates increases and significant food inflation have left us in an impossible position.

“While having a thriving food hall in Enniskillen was (and still is) our dream, we are going to concentrate on ensuring you can still find our unique brand of heat to eat meals in local shops while we figure out the next steps.

“At this time we intend to close the shop for one month and reassess the situation.”

The post thanked those who had supported the business since its initial opening in 2021.

“It is our hope we can continue with both the food hall and our range of delicious heat 2 eat meals at that time. But for now you can still find us all over the province (list of shops to follow).

“Thank you for your support and we hope for your continued support and understanding at this time.”
