Fermanagh brothers down tools for dough with new travelling pizza van

Two brothers from Newtownbutler, Co Fermanagh have taken to the road in a new travelling pizza van as they hope to rake in the dough with their new business.

Glen McWilliams and brother Andrew worked as a butcher and joiner by trade before deciding to buy a van and turn it into a pizza oven earlier this year.

Glen, 30, and Andrew, 32, have been impressing pizza lovers across the county at various events in the summer months with The Dough and Arrow Woodfired Pizza.

Speaking to MyFermanagh , Glen joked that when he first suggested the idea to Andrew, his brother thought he was being scammed.

“The way I messaged him, I asked him if we wanted to change his lifestyle and earn a wee bit more money,” Glen said.

“He didn’t know what the hell was happening, he thought it was some sort of scam message I was sharing.

“But we took the plunge from then and here we are now. We were initially looking at a trailer and then it became a van and next thing we were over in England getting somebody to kit it out for us.

“So it just kind of snowballed from there!”

The business has been a family operation so far, with Glen and Andrew’s wives and sister pitching in to get it off the ground.

Glen added the response from the public at events so far has been amazing and hopes the support will continue in the months ahead.

“Luckily it has been very busy and we’re hoping over the winter time will be the same,” he said.

“Within the van there is everything you could possibly need for pizza making. As it is a small working space it was designed in such a way that you start at one end of the van and the pizzas make their way around in a process.

“We’ve had great feedback from everyone so far. We feel like there is nothing like us at the minute around Fermanagh.”
