The latest update on the page mentioned that Brown has shown brief signs of improvement, including three coughs and slight movements in his leg and hand. Doctors have also reported encouraging results in his brain activity, although a long and challenging road to recovery lies ahead.
The incident occurred during a gathering in Ferguson to commemorate Michael Brown, where a few dozen demonstrators remained near the police station as midnight approached. Some individuals began shaking and damaging a fence, leading to police intervention and arrests.
Police released body camera and surveillance footage showing a suspect, identified as 28-year-old Elijah Gantt, charging at Brown on a sidewalk, causing him to fall backward and hit his head on the pavement. Both Brown and Gantt are Black.
Additional footage from Brown's body camera captured the moment of impact and the subsequent response from officers, including calling for medical assistance and moving Brown to safety. Gantt has been charged with assault and is currently in custody on a $500,000 bond.
