Fenwick Street bar fight leaves man seriously injured

Three men were being quizzed by detectives after a fight broke out at a Merseyside bar.

At around 10.40pm Merseyside Police were called to the the Manhattan Bar and Grill in Fenwick Street following reports of a fight between two groups of men. Three men were taken to hospital- one with serious facial injuries.

Two men aged 23 from New Brighton and one aged 34 from Liverpool were arrested on suspicion of affray and section 18 wounding with intent. They have been taken to a police station on Merseyside and remain in custody.

Detective Inspector Chris Hawitt said: “This was a dangerous and violent attack in our city centre and although we have made three arrests overnight our investigation is still in the very early stages as we seek to establish exactly what took place on Fenwick Street.

“We are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry in the local area. If you were on Fenwick Street at around 10.30pm last night and saw the attack, then please let us know. Similarly, if you took photos on your mobile phone or have CCTV footage please come forward.”
