Fenwick has now reopened some of its fitting rooms so that customers can once again try before they buy.
The Newcastle store, which reopened in June with these changes in place for shoppers, now will be allowing access to a limited number of its changing areas which it will be keeping thoroughly cleaned.
Staff will be managing the access, allowing only one customer into a fitting room at a time and anyone needing to queue will be kept at least one metre apart from others.
All items which are taken into the fitting room but not then bought will be quarantined for 48 hours before being returned to the shop floor and each fitting room will be cleaned between uses, with a focus on 'touchpoints' such as locks, doors, handrails, garment hooks, mirrors and walls.
Customers also will have hand sanitisers to use.
The Northumberland Street branch is one of the first Fenwick stores to reopen some of its fitting rooms.
Those at Kingston, Bracknell, Colchester and Brent Cross have followed suit while stores at York, Royal Tunbridge Wells and Canterbury will be reopening some of theirs between now and Monday.
Shoes can be tried on in any of its stores but customers will have to wear the disposable 'pop sock' provided and the shoes will also undergo sanitising if they need to go back on sale.
Pablo Sueiras, retail operations director at Fenwick, said: “We are delighted to be able to open a few of our fitting rooms again as we gradually return to more familiar ways of shopping.
"We know it has been hard for customers who really want to try items on and see how it looks and we have put a lot of effort into ensuring that this can be done in as safe a way as possible.
"Now they can come in and try on before they buy once more.”
